Start with what your team must be able to do after the training, then choose the format. If several people need to work on the same brand, an in-house programme built around your business usually fits better than sending them to a public course. Keep hands-on groups small enough that everyone works on the brand. Before the day, give the provider a short brief, take a dated baseline of how AI engines answer questions about you, and sort out website access. Those three things decide whether the training turns into work that continues.
Key takeaways
- AI SEO and GEO are two names for one job: getting your business named in answers from ChatGPT, Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode, Gemini and Claude.
- Brief the provider on roles, outcomes, brands and markets, not just the topic.
- In-house training suits a team working on one brand; a public course suits one or two people.
- Providers in Malaysia set their own group minimums, from 2 to 25 or more participants.
- Prepare a baseline check, buyer questions, website access and a named owner for the weeks after.
How do you brief a corporate AI SEO training provider?
Tell them who is coming, what each person should be able to do afterwards, and how you will judge it. A brief that only says “AI SEO training for 10 people” gets a generic course back.
A useful brief fits on one page:
- Who attends, by role. For example: two managers, four content writers, one person who looks after the website.
- What they must do afterwards. Check each engine every month? Write pages? Brief an agency? Report to the board?
- Brands, markets and languages. One brand in Malaysia is a different course from three brands across Malaysia and Singapore.
- Where you stand today. A dated check of 10 to 20 buyer questions across the engines, with who is named instead of you.
- Logistics. At your office or online, how many days the team can be away, and the language of delivery.
- How you will judge it. Ideally, how often the engines name you a month or two later, plus the pages and checks the team actually produced.
Then ask the provider three questions. Does the outline teach getting your business named in AI answers, or using ChatGPT to do SEO tasks faster? Both are useful, and many outlines titled “AI SEO” focus on the second. Will every exercise run on your own brand? And who will actually train, with what search experience?
Should you choose in-house training or a public course?
Choose in-house when several people need to work on the same brand. Choose a public course when you are sending one or two people to learn the method and bring it back.
| In-house (corporate) | Public course | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | A team working on one brand or a group of brands | One or two people, or a first look before committing a team |
| Exercises | All on your brand, your questions, your competitors | On your brand, alongside other businesses |
| Content | Chosen for who is in the room | Fixed outline |
| Confidentiality | You can discuss competitors and plans openly | Shared room |
| Dates | Set with the provider | Set by the provider’s intake |

How big should the group be?
For hands-on work, small enough that every person works on the brand during the session. For a leadership briefing, size matters much less.
A sensible split for a mid-sized team:
- Leadership session. Short, can be a larger group. Why ranking first on Google no longer means being seen, and how to read a dated check run every month.
- Hands-on group. The writers and the person who will run the work weekly. Each needs a laptop and something real to build: the one-sentence description, the question list, a page draft.
If you have more writers than fit one hands-on group, run two sessions rather than one crowded room. People who only watch rarely do the work afterwards.
What should you prepare before the training day?
Prepare anything that would otherwise eat the first hour. The more of this is ready, the more of the day goes into building.
- A baseline check. Ask 10 to 20 buyer questions in each engine, dated, and note who is named. Our guide to checking whether you show up in ChatGPT shows how. The free AIO Visibility Checker helps with Google.
- Your current description. Copy how the business describes itself on the website, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile and directories. They rarely match, and that is the first fix.
- Buyer questions. Ask sales and customer service what people ask before they buy. Use their words, not the marketing team’s.
- Competitor names. The three to five businesses the engines name instead of you.
- Website access. Edit rights for at least one attendee, so pages can be changed during or right after the session.
- An owner and hours for the weeks after. Name who runs the work and how many hours a week they have.
Malaysia has its own pattern worth knowing. In a check we ran on 2 November 2026, 15 buyer questions asked from a Malaysian location across five AI engines (270 answers), the engines leaned on Malaysian directories, local “best of” articles and the service pages of firms that say clearly what they do and where. Your team’s homework list should include all three.
What should happen after the training?
A 30-day plan, then a check every month. Training without a calendar fades within weeks.
The last chapter of The AI Search Playbook, AI search in 30 days, turns the method into a working calendar: agree and publish the one-sentence description, write the pages for the top questions, start on the other sites that name you, then re-check each engine. Expect the off-site part to take longest. Across 40 Google AI Overview results we checked for a branding agency client in September 2026, a business named on one source was named in the answer 27% of the time; on three or more sources, 87%.
Report each month’s check to whoever paid for the training, with dates and the exact words each engine used. That is how the training proves itself.
